People Who Use Pseudonyms Leave Better Blog Comments

A blog is a shortened word of web log. It is originally a personal website intended to be like a diary or a journal. Thus, it is an online diary or journal updated every now and then for public viewing. It typically represents the writer or the company owning the website. The writer of a blog of a blog is called a blogger and he also does blog commenting. Usually, he or she writes about social issues or anything that is in-demand on the net.

A blogger usually use a pseudonym in writing his blog or in blog commenting. A pseudonym is a fictitious name that a writer uses to hide his real identity for some reason or another. It is also known as a pen name. They say that people who uses pseudonyms often gives better blog comments that those though uses real names. Some reasons for this fact are the following.

  • Pseudonyms mask one’s gender. Bloggers use pen names to hide their gender especially if the topics are gender related issues. Some readers would react if a female blogger is commenting about male related topics and vice versa. So if you are a woman and wanting to comment on a male related posts without fearing that readers won’t believe your opinion is to hide your gender. In this way you can comment without bias and say whatever you want without thinking of gender problems. Pseudonyms not just hide gender but also personal traits like age and nationality.
  • Pseudonyms are used to hide your personality from someone who can affect your writing style. For example, if you are an employee by daytime and writes blog during nighttime, you may want to use pseudonym to hide your identity from your superiors or subordinates. If in case your boss found out that you write, he would think that you are using your office hours to do your writings and will assume that you are not focusing on your job as his employee. In this way, your writings can be affected because you might want to stop your blogging just to show your boss that your work is far important than writing.
  • A writer uses pseudonym because he doesn’t want his writings to affect his good name and clean reputation just because of the opinions that he is trying to raise.
